About DaLata Designs

DaLata Designs supports exceptionally talented Brazilian artisans by bringing their exciting, original fashions to US consumers. "Da lata" means "from the can" in Portuguese - Brazil's language. (It's the name of a great band too!)

Our Goals

  • Return 25% or more of the profits to the makers, similarly to Fair Trade principles. You won't find fancy packaging and expensive advertising here. It's all about high-value products.
  • Aspire to employ more and more people in production.
  • Spice up American fashion with super cool, sexy designs and fine handiwork you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere.
  • Price as a win-win for you and the makers. Look what goes into DaLata Wear and compare to the price of mass-produced products.

That's me, Susie, Chief DaLata Fan. This tank has made its way from dance clubs in SF and NY to beach parties to fine restaurants. Vivavi.com featured DaLata along with their very stylish eco-designs at 2004 Green Festival in San Francisco. Adriano, a Brazilian pro surfer, immediately saw the potential of adding a chin strap to my hat and making it part of his radical surfing style. How could I say no? While this is not the recommended use of this top, if it feels good, do it!
